Dreaming of shimmering turquoise sea? Dreaming of soft sandy beaches? Dreaming of ancient ruins slowly merging into the undergrowth? Then you’re dreaming of the Turkish Riviera, that curvy stretch of the Mediterranean coast that extends from Kemer in the west to Alanya in the east with Antalya and its international airport in the middle.
Although this is a part of Turkey, the landscape is dominated by the breathtaking Taurus Mountains. It also has pine-backed sandy beaches and a climate perfect for year-round holidays. It offers excellent golf courses, has easy access to dramatic white-water rafting possibilities and provides two stunning long-distance walking trails.
Over the past few years several luxurious, all-inclusive holiday complexes have opened at Belek, alongside the golf courses. Typically, they run to more than 400 rooms and have all sorts of on-site water sports. Their size will rule them out for most independent travellers but for many families they fit the bill perfectly
