Holiday reading

This is the time of the year to reflect on the books we have enjoyed. Here are a few of the tasteAnatolia team’s favourite recent reads

Moro East
Sam and Sam Clark
Ebury Press
£25.00

Husband and wife restaurateurs and class double act Sam(uel) and Sam(antha) Clark drew the inspiration for their third cookbook from their allotment in the East End, right in the heart of London’s Eastern Mediterranean Turkish and Cypriot community. This is a garden-to-table book with beautiful realistic photographs. Sam and Sam experiment with produce at different stages of the crop – from baby shoots and green salad days to gluts at the end of the season. Waste not want not: even parts of plants that normally get discarded are used with respect and care. The only sad thing is that the allotment is no longer – it has been blitzed to make way for the 2012 Olympics. But Sam and Sam’s example is inspirational and one I’d like to follow. Watch out for progress updates about the tasteAnatolia allotment in Spring Hill next year.
